Arte&Orti Proxima is an activity promoted by the Proxima Social Cooperative that since 2003 has offered opportunities for escape, change and growth to those who intend to escape the subjugation and conditioning linked to situations of serious exploitation and trafficking.
A project born to offer concrete opportunities for change, personal growth and social redemption through active inclusion in the social fabric thanks to training, work and direct contact with nature.
From a piece of land granted to us by the Municipality of Ragusa, once in a complete state of abandonment, a path of rebirth began: regenerated thanks to shared commitment, today it has become the beating heart of a project that cultivates inclusion, sustainability and dignity.
ETHICAL AND INNOVATIVE AGRICULTURE
Our model is based on ecosystem agriculture, capable of producing healthy food while protecting natural balances, an agriculture that regenerates the soil, enhances biodiversity and focuses on the well-being of people and the environment.
We rediscover the value of local agriculture and the short supply chain, cultivating products that are strongly linked to the territory and enhancing its heritage, not only agri-food, but also historical and cultural.
Our crops are grown in open fields and with the innovative method of aquaponics, in which Aquaculture (fish farming) and Hydroponics (soil-less cultivation) merge into a closed and sustainable system, a harmonious whole that respects the environment.

ART OF REUSE – CREATIVE WORKSHOPS
Alongside the agricultural activity, artisan workshops based on the culture of reuse come to life: through the creative recycling of fabrics and waste materials and the use of natural products, original artifacts for the person and the home are born. Each creation is the result of an ethical process, attentive to ecology and the value of resources.
